You can use this command to change the power button action when your computer is plugged into a power source:

You can also use this command to change the default power button action when your computer is on battery:

In the two examples, you will notice that the two commands end up with the value of “0”. This number is the index value that defines the action of your power button. In order to configure this, you have to change it into another value.
0 – Do nothing.
1 – Sleep.
2 – Hibernate.
3 – Shut down.
4 – Turn off the display.
Note: If your computer doesn’t support hibernation, the index value of 2 will not work.
Step 5: Press enter to apply the changes.
Step 6: After that, type in this command:
powercfg -SetActive SCHEME_CURRENT
Step 7: Press enter.
